Antenatal Care
We are part of the government Combined Care Scheme which entitles women to 6 free antenatal visits as well as two post-natal visits to check their health and the health of their new born baby. Your doctor will advise you on the simple procedure to sign up to this scheme when you come in for your initial visit.

Blood tests
These are carried out by our nurse on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings. We provide routine and specialised blood testing.

Cervical Smear tests
These are available free for eligible women between the ages of 25 and 60 and are carried out by our nurse or female doctor. To register for your free smear test please ring 1800 454555 or log onto www.cervicalcheck.ie. Upon receipt of a smear call invitation letter you can then avail of this service at Churchtown Medical.

We also offer private smear tests for any woman outside the above criteria.

Child Vaccinations
We are approved by the HSE to give all childhood vaccinations. Childhood immunisations are given from the age of 2 months to 6 years old (except BCG). Immunisations can be arranged by booking an appointment with our nurse.

Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is an effective way of getting rid of warts or lesions quickly using liquid nitrogen. Most private health insurance packages will cover the costs involved.

Dermatology
We provide advice on treatment and may diagnose or investigate more common skin conditions. Appropriate referrals for specialist opinions can also be arranged if required.

Dietician
Our resident dietician is in our practice on Thursday’s to advise on all aspects of weight control and diet/nutrition issues.

As part of her service, Niamh provides dietary assessment, one-to-one consultation, meal plans, nutritional therapy and group education sessions in many different areas including the following:

  • General Nutrition
  • Weight Management
  • Chronic Disease Management
  • Paediatric Nutrition
  • Sports Nutrition

As Niamh is member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute, patients will be entitled to claim partial cost from their private health insurer.

Family Planning and Contraception
We provide contraception advice and prescriptions for The Pill, Implanon, Depo-provera as well as Mirena coil insertion.

Flu and Pneumococcal Vaccinations
All patients over 65 and patients with underlying medical conditions are encouraged to have an annual flu vaccine and a vaccination against pneumonia. Flu and Pneumonia clinics will be held in our practice during flu season – please contact us for an appointment or additional information.

Full Health Check Medicals
We provide a comprehensive Medical Check-Up service for both men and women which includes a full written report summarising your current state of health. The full cost of this may be covered by your private health insurance. More details about what is included in the medicas are available here

Gardasil Vaccinations - Cervical Cancer Vaccinations
A course of 3 vaccinations over 6 months is recommended for girls/women aged between 9 and 26 to prevent Cervical Cancer. We are delighted to be in a position offer Gardasil at a discounted rate to our patients. If you have any questions about this service, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Insurance Medicals
We carry our Private Medical Attendants reports for Life/Income Protection Assurance purposes, Pension Term Assurances etc. If you are requested to complete a health insurance medical, please ask your insurance company or broker to send the required forms directly to us and we will arrange an appointment for a date and time that suits you. Please note that the cost of the medical will be covered by the insurance company.

Minor Surgery for lumps and Bumps
We have a comprehensive skin assessment and treatment service to deal with suspected skin cancers or any lesions on the skin you may be concerned about. Examples may include: cysts, moles, lumps, growths, joint injections and certain types of skin cancer. These procedures are covered by most private health insurance plans.

Sleep Apnoea Testing

Travel vaccinations
We offer a comprehensive pre-travel health check, vaccination and travel advice service. We advise you to book at least 6 weeks in advance of your trip to ensure adequate cover for any possible vaccines. Churchtown Medical is a registered Yellow Fever vaccination centre.

Urinalysis Testing
These can be done at anytime by our Practice Nurse to check for infections such as cystitis/UTI as well as checking for pregnancy and kidney problems.

Dublin Vasectomy Clinic
Thomas Lynch is a Urological Surgeon who performs vasectomy's here at our clinic on Friday afternoons. Vasectomy is a permanent method of male contraception. It is safe, effective and ideal for men who have completed their families or for those who do not want to have any children. It is carried out under local anaesthetic. Please speak to any of our doctors about a referral.

We have a visiting nurse who comes to our practice regularly to treat and to help patients to manage their psoriasis. We will make the appointment for you if recommended by your doctor.

Podiarty

Justin Blake BSc MChSI SRCh

Justin Blake is now providing the podiatry service in Churchtown Medical. Justin has a particular interest in running, postural and lower back problems. He successfully treats sportsmen and women from recreational to professional athletes, including: runners, gaelic players, hurlers, footballers, rugby players, golfers, athletes, cyclists, dancers, skaters and members of the Irish Army.
