Doctors
Dr Michael Mehigan
Dr Mehigan graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland in 1977. Having completed his training in Dublin Hospitals, he started his own practice in Churchtown in 1983. He has a special interest in sports medicine, occupational health and the future development of Irish General Practice. He has been an active member of the National GP Committee of the IMO.
Dr Ahmed Mehtar
Dr Mehtar is a graduate of Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. As one of the founder members of the Irish College of General Practitioners, Dr Mehtar is highly acclaimed and very keen on the development of general practice in Ireland. He has had his own practice in Churchtown for many years and his special interests include minor surgery, preventative medicine, travel medicine and women’s health.
Dr Serena Gavin
Dr Gavin is a graduate of University College Dublin and completed her hospital and GP training in a specialist GP training programme in Ireland. Dr Gavin has worked extensively in practices across the country and in 2006 worked as an emergency medical doctor in New Zealand before joining Churchtown Medical. Serena also has a Diploma in Practical Dermatology (Cardiff University, Wales) 2010
Practice nurse
Siobhan Ginty
Siobhan Ginty has been qualified as a nurse for over 20 years. She completed her training in Whipps Cross Hospital London, Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast and Beaumont Hospital in Dublin and spent time working in America as a Practice Nurse.
Siobhan is available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 9am and 6pm and Wednesday and Friday from 9am - 12 noon. Her special interest areas include the management of diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure and weight loss.
Dietician and Nutritionist
Niamh Brannelly - Consultant Dietitian Bsc (Hons) Nutritional sciences PgDip Dietetics MINDI
Niamh Brannelly is our resident Dietician and Nutritionist. She has extensive clinical experience having spent time working both in hospitals and private practice. Niamh has also been involved in clinical research and has had work published in the Annals of Surgery.
Administration Team
Our administration team of Denise Priestly, Rachel Byrne and Christine Kenny are on hand to help you with booking appointments or indeed any queries you may have. They work hard on our reception and in the background to ensure everything in the practice runs smoothly.
Our practice manager, Gráinne Hanly ensures our practice is efficiently run on a day to day basis to meet your requirements.
